Context, not just content
Familiar verses and prayers become easier to return to when their language and meaning have room to be understood.
About Diya
Diya is a daily Hindu practice app for iPhone, made for Hindus and people of Indian heritage across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the wider diaspora who are practicing, reconnecting, or beginning. It brings scripture, guided Bhagavad Gita lessons, devotional audio, a digital altar, Ask Diya, and a gentle daily rhythm into one approachable place.
Our story
Working across New Jersey and California
Diya began with a personal question: how do you build a meaningful connection to Hinduism when you want to learn and practice, but do not know where to begin?
Our team is shaped by Indian American, immigrant, and first-generation experiences. We knew the desire to reconnect could be deeply personal, but the path was not always clear. Scripture could feel difficult to approach without context. The meaning behind familiar prayers was not always easy to find. Many existing apps focused on one part of the experience instead of helping someone build an understandable daily practice.
We created Diya to make that starting point feel more welcoming. Diya brings scripture, guided learning, prayer, a digital altar, and plain-language explanations into one calm place. It is designed to support a practice—not replace a family tradition, temple, teacher, guru, or priest.
What guides us
Hindu traditions are living, varied, and personal. Diya offers a clear place to begin while leaving room for the ways families, communities, and teachers differ.
Familiar verses and prayers become easier to return to when their language and meaning have room to be understood.
A brief breath, a prayer, and one verse can be a meaningful daily rhythm without asking every day to look the same.
Diya can help someone learn and reflect. It does not replace a family tradition, temple, teacher, guru, or priest.
